Cairns

Cairns - Far North Queensland!

Perfect weather (season dependent!) Hidden waterfalls, epic nightlife,, a wakeboard park and a Samurai Gallery. Yes, Cairns has a Samurai Gallery, does your hometown have a Samurai Gallery? I guess it’s pretty safe to say Cairns has something for everyone. It sure is a shame that some solo travelers never leave Gilligans! Although we do love Gilligans (Epic pool parties and hectic night parties in the club/bar) we highly recommend at the very least, getting out of town to scope out some amazing waterfalls. Cairns is also home to the tallest mountain in Queensland. Mount Bartle Frere, has a peak of 1,661 meters which none of us here at GVH have ever seen the top of as it is about an 8 hour return hike to the top so if you make it, take some photos please! There are obviously less demanding hikes around the mountain that lead to some more epic waterfalls. As mentioned earlier, the Wake Park is also a lot of fun or if your game, Hartleys Crocodile Adventures is sure to get your heart pumping! Did I mention Cairns has a Samurai Gallery?

GVH’s insider tip

Notice we mentioned (season dependent)? This is important. It’s safe to say, in the rainy season when it rains, IT POURS!

Fun fact

The modern descendants of dinosaurs are locals here! The amazing, and dangerous, cassowary bird is native to the north-eastern parts of Australia.
